Light....Glory! Let is shine!

2 Corinthians 4:6-7

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

Colossians 1:27
To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Luke 10:20
Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”

Ever since the fall, people have wanted to make idols of themselves and their own creations. We find it easier to make idols of things visible than to worship God's unseen Reality. We spend years trying to perfect ourselves. Now we are more vulnerable to idolizing what we have made or done than what we are. This is a rather subtle sin, especially when we have created something for God's Glory and purposes. God has deigned to use some of our creations to bless other people, this has delighted us. When they express their appreciation to us we soak up their praises. We forget that everything we make is as flawed as we are. Just as we are a jar of clay filled with heavenly contents, so are the things we have made or done for God.
Jesus is Christ in us--shining the light of the knowledge of His Glory into our hearts. Jesus is the treasure that fills not only us but also our creations of clay, giving them meaning. When we do our work in dependence on God, He can use it powerfully for His purposes. Delight in what we accomplish together, but find your utmost Joy in Jesus--our eternal treasure...Glory!
